Project Accountant

In this role, you will serve as a crucial link between operations and accounting, ensuring that project financials are accurately managed and processes run seamlessly. Responsibilities
  • Lead project setup activities, including scheduling meetings and preparing project documentation.
  • Establish and manage financial frameworks, such as billing calendars and project budgets, to support smooth project execution.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with project managers and team members to ensure timely and accurate financial processes.
  • Oversee compliance with company SOPs and contractual obligations, including subcontracts, change orders, and lien waivers.
  • Drive the monthly billing cycle, ensuring all costs are correctly posted, invoices processed, and deadlines met.
  • Facilitate project closeout tasks by coordinating final documentation, warranties, and project evaluations.
  • Monitor project forecasts and assist in variance analysis, offering insights to optimize project financials.
  • Maintain proficiency with construction and accounting software.
  • Support risk management initiatives by ensuring subcontractor compliance and accurate documentation.
  • Promote continuous improvement by learning new tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance project accounting workflows.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, with a strong emphasis on finance, accounting, or related fields.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, subcontracting, or professional services industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with client service orientation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); familiarity with procurement processes is a plus.
