About the Opportunity

We are looking to hire a Project Accountant (remote) to join our Timmins Operations team in Timmins, ON. to play a key role in the Bell Creek Shaft expansionprojecton a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day or 4 on, 3 off, 10hrs/day.

This position offers a base salary range of $85,000 -$110,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.

This is an existing vacancy. The successful candidate may begin as soon as possible.

Please note that this role may require occasional site presence.

The Project Accountant will play a key role in the Bell Creek Shaft Expansion Project and be responsible for the preparation of month end accruals, allocations, journal entries, cost reports, as well as analysis of monthly financial performance, assisting in the preparation of annual budgets and interim forecasts and month-end general ledger reconciliations as required. You will also be responsible to ensure the accuracy of operating and capital mine site accounting transactions for the purpose of providing management with monthly and year end cost statements in a timely manner. Regular cost reviews with the project management group are required, therefore excellent communication methods are a necessary skillset.

Reporting to the Finance Superintendent and indirectly to the Project Manager, the Project Accountant will have the following responsibilities:

  • responsible for supporting the accounting requirements of multiple projects from beginning to end, from economic evaluations, cost tracking, budgeting and financial reporting
  • prepare monthly project cost reports, forecasts and variance analysis
  • monitor project spending and schedules and provide timely updates to stakeholders
  • support monthly close activities and reconcile project costs to the general ledger
  • assist the finance and accounting team as required

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years proven experience as a Project Accountant
  • Project experience, preferably in a mining environment
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and job costing methods
  • Advanced excel skills, Oracle EBS experience preferred
  • Ability to compile and organize financial data efficiently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an aptitude for building strong interpersonal relationships
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada
