Full Job Description
The Role

In collaboration with the Finance Team, while guided by Hermanson Purpose & Values, partners with the project manager to support and advise on all finance related activities, included but not limited to: Audits, Accounts Receivable (A/R), Cash, Forecasting (Stat reports), Job Cost, Substantiation, Billing, and profitability analysis and reporting.
  • Coordinates preparation and review of billing information for completeness and adequacy, coordinating the collection of substantiation for Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) contracts.
  • Completes monthly reconciliation and forecast for all GMP contracts, communicating opportunities and risks to the project team.
  • Keeps up-to-date reconciliation of contract amount, system contract amount, and billed/substantiated amount by project for all GMP Contracts.
  • Coordinates preparation and review of response to all project audits.
  • Takes initiative to establish accounting contact with client project teams.
  • Teams with Project Manager to execute both accurate and timely monthly billings in accounting system.
  • Assists in collecting outstanding Accounts Receivable (A/R), including providing additional documentation, as required.
  • Executes lien releases in conformance with client and contract guidelines to mitigate potential risks.
  • Reviews project timecard process and ensures labor cost code accuracy weekly.
  • Provides project cost reporting to the project team weekly, highlighting and communicating budget overruns.
  • Assist in reviewing, and/or facilitating subcontractor billing.
  • Partners with Project Manager to maintain project cost budgets and change orders, posting budget and contract revisions in the accounting system and opening/closing cost codes as needed.
  • Coordinates and actively participates in monthly cost reviews/forecast (Stat) with project team to foster maximum forecasting accuracy.
  • Reviews final Stat for outstanding commitments & cost to ensure project is ready for financial closeout in the accounting system.
  • Collects project use tax reporting to submit to General Ledger accountant, making necessary journal entries to correctly allocate tax cost to project.
  • When needed, teams with project foremen/superintendents to assist with project specific labor-related forecasts.
  • Assist with other duties throughout the Project Accounting team as needed.

Serves as the primary liaison for project accounting related questions coordinating the execution of all project accounting related tasks with the Finance Team and Operations.

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000. (The compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience).

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas mentioned above, having successfully performed jobs with similar duties for 3-5 years.
  • An understanding of GAAP and the ability to create and understand Business Unit financial statements.
  • Familiarity with contract language and able to strategize on using the contract as a tool to maximize profitability.
  • A detailed understanding of construction industry terms.
  • Strong customer first attitude.
  • Exceptional organization and administrative skills.
  • High level of initiative and a desire and ability to grow and learn quickly.
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Excel and MS Office.
  • Ability to navigate databases, enterprise systems and online content with ease.
  • Experience with D365 ) accounting software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Education:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting preferred, or equivalent experience.
