Position Summary

The Program Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Nebraska AHEC Network, a statewide health workforce development initiative with a mission to improve health by recruiting, training and retaining healthcare professionals in underserved communities through academic-community partnerships. The Program Manager is responsible for managing the Nebraska AHEC Network and the major operational components: strategic planning, needs assessment, advisory board maintenance, advocacy, public & governmental relations, and developing/maintaining evaluation system that achieves key health workforce outcomes. This position works with Nebraska's five regional AHEC Centers, their boards of directors, community partners and regional supporting institutions to ensure that federal, state, and local policies and funding goals are achieved. The Program Manager assures that public policy issues are addressed and that effective government relations are maintained at the local and regional level. The Program Manager works closely with the Nebraska AHEC Director (principal investigator) for both governmental and non-governmental funding for the Nebraska AHEC Network.

A proven ability to work with a diverse constituency including academic students and faculty, federal, state and local government officials, community-based organizations, and educational leaders.
