Summary:

The Program Manager of Laboratory Quality and Compliance is responsible for maintaining compliance policies, executing compliance training and education, performing audits, investigating incidents, and providing reports on investigations. The Program Manager coordinates team efforts to establish and monitor customer relations, supports strategic planning and deployment initiatives, and assists in the development and monitoring of measurement systems evaluating organizational improvement. This role identifies opportunities to enhance services through technology, tools, and processes and provides recommendations to leadership.

The Program Manager supports the provision and coordination of Laboratory services and resources by monitoring metrics and goals. The Program Manager collaborates with service line leaders at ministries to develop and implement action plans that address performance variances, rectify safety events, and mitigate regulatory concerns involving Laboratory Services.

Responsibilities:

System-Wide Strategy

  • Support a culture that recognizes quality assurance as an essential part of its operations.
  • Provides coordination to various technical associates engaged in specified project activities.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as (CAP, COLA, CLIA, TJC, DNV), as well as quality assurance/quality control practices and safety standards across CHRISTUS Health.
  • Assists in the efforts of CHRISTUS Health Utilization Committee under the supervision of the System Laboratory Director.
  • Assists with the monitoring of the Laboratory Quality/Compliance Dashboard for CHRISTUS Health under the supervision and direction of the System Laboratory Director.
  • Works collaboratively with HR, Patient Safety, Epidemiology, Infection Control, and Risk Management to support compliance with related healthcare regulations. Supports these groups in ensuring Laboratory metrics, operations, and audits are focused on high-value targets toward improving patient care.
  • Assists in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technology and management information systems to support patient care needs and appropriate utilization of professional and technical resources.
  • Assist with the implementation of system-wide initiatives and serve as representative for Laboratory stakeholders.

Operational Efficiency

  • Collaborates with Laboratory Leaders across all ministries to identify opportunities for improvement that enhance processes, quality, patient safety, and financial stewardship and communicates recommendations to Leadership.
  • Supports the review of functional metrics, dashboards, strategies and performance goals.
  • Assesses compliance and effectiveness of policies and procedures upon implementation.
  • Provides support, identification, participation, and mentoring of project teams related to governance and compliance. Assists in driving process improvement plans across Laboratory service lines.
  • Acts as a liaison to other CHRISTUS Health departments. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and other service lines to gather and exchange information and implement solutions to problems.
  • Assists in developing, reviewing, revising, submitting, and implementing policies, procedures, and objectives and ensures alignment with CHRISTUS Health core values, goals, and objectives.
  • Makes recommendations to management on new processes, tools, techniques, or the development of new laboratory services.
  • Assists in assessing the quality of services and supports continuous improvement activities according to prescribed quality assessment methods.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent degree required
  • Advanced knowledge of the healthcare industry is highly preferred
  • Deadline-oriented and able to multi-task

Experience

  • 4 years as a Medical Technologist, MLS, CLS, or equivalent required
  • 6 years or greater as a Medical Technologist, MLS, CLS, or equivalent preferred
  • Supervisory or management experience preferred
  • Multi-hospital system experience preferred
  • Background in Laboratory Quality and Regulatory Compliance preferred

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Active MLS from ASCP required
