Job Overview

The Program Manager leads complex product development programs supporting the Komatsu Automation portfolio. This role owns program execution across the product lifecycle-from concept and feasibility through design, validation, manufacturing readiness, product launch, and sustainment.

Working across engineering, product strategy, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, quality, technical publications, training, and product support, the Program Manager establishes the plans, governance, decision-making processes, and cross-functional alignment required to deliver products that meet customer, business, cost, quality, schedule, and performance objectives.

This is an individual-contributor leadership role requiring the ability to influence across a global, matrixed organization without direct authority.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own integrated program execution across concept development, feasibility, design, validation, industrialization, launch, and sustainment.
  • Develop and maintain integrated program plans, milestones, critical paths, resource requirements, dependencies, and program-level KPIs.
  • Establish effective program governance, decision-making processes, review cadences, and executive reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across engineering, validation, manufacturing, supply chain, purchasing, quality, product strategy, technical publications, training, and product support.
  • Identify and manage program risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints; establish mitigation and contingency plans and drive timely escalation where required.
  • Facilitate cross-functional decisions and trade-offs involving technical performance, customer requirements, schedule, cost, quality, and risk.
  • Coordinate requirements, scope changes, engineering changes, readiness reviews, and stage-gate approvals throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Provide clear, data-driven program reporting and recommendations to business and technical leadership.
  • Capture lessons learned and drive improvements to product-development and program-management processes.


Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, project/program management, or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.

Experience
  • 7+ years of progressive project or program management experience involving complex product development.
  • Demonstrated experience leading products through multiple lifecycle phases, including development, validation, launch, and sustainment.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing integrated schedules, dependencies, program risks, and executive-level reporting.
  • Experience leading through influence in a matrixed organization.


Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of structured product-development and/or stage-gate processes.
  • Ability to translate complex technical and business information into actionable program plans and decisions.
  • Strong program planning, risk management, stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive communication capabilities.
  • Experience using modern program/project planning, reporting, and collaboration tools.


Desired Skills

  • Experience with automation, robotics, autonomous systems, industrial equipment, automotive, mining technology, or another complex hardware/software product environment.
  • Experience supporting hardware products through validation, manufacturing readiness, and industrialization.
  • Experience working within a global organization.
  • Experience with requirements and engineering change-management processes.
  • PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or comparable program/project management certification.
  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or a related discipline.
