Job Title: Program Director

Job Summary:

As a Program Director, you'll provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for behavioral health and community-based programs that positively impact the lives of individuals and families. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who is passionate about service excellence, staff development, regulatory compliance, and driving meaningful outcomes.

You will oversee program operations, financial performance, quality initiatives, and team leadership while fostering strong partnerships with stakeholders, referral sources, and community organizations.

What You'll Do:

Program Leadership & Operations
  • Oversee the daily operations, performance, and compliance of assigned programs and service areas.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to achieve operational and organizational goals.
  • Identify opportunities for program growth, service enhancement, and new funding sources.
  • Assist with grant management activities and ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
  • Review financial performance and ensure timely variance reporting and corrective actions when needed.
  • Support program sustainability through effective planning and resource management.


Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with CARF standards, state regulations, licensing requirements, payer requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Maintain audit-ready programs and support internal and external reviews.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews and monitor service delivery outcomes.
  • Ensure electronic health records and program databases are maintained accurately and timely.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance service effectiveness and client outcomes.


Team Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and professional development.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and mission-driven culture.
  • Promote employee engagement, recognition, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure staffing levels support quality service delivery.


Community & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with referral partners, funding sources, community organizations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate with Department of Mental Health offices, Vocational Rehabilitation providers, targeted case management organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in community meetings, networking events, and partnership activities.


Service Delivery Support
  • Conduct field observations and monitor service delivery practices.
  • Provide operational support and direct service coverage when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience in a healthcare system or five years of behavioral healthcare experience required.
  • Behavioral healthcare experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Master's degree preferred.
