Job Summary

Performs a wide range of professional tasks to administer and facilitate the management of the Home Delivered Meals programs in the Division of Senior Center Operations of the Department of Aging & Human Services.

The hiring salary for this position is $66,102 annually; full salary range for this position is $66,102 - $113,734 annually
Essential Functions

  1. Manages the Home Delivered Meals program. Determines consumer eligibility, completes initial and annual consumer assessments by visiting the consumer in their home, and controls the movement of consumers into and out of the program.
  2. Coordinates the delivery of meals by the Department's employed meal deliverers and by a large contingent of volunteer meal drivers;
  3. Organizes and updates delivery route sheets;
  4. Performs regular test tray temperature checks for daily home delivered meal routes going out at each of the senior activity centers;
  5. Maintains inventory of shelf stable meals; and other supplies needed to make the Home Delivered Meals program successful;
  6. Maintains safe food handling certification;
  7. Prepares monthly mailing of contribution statements;
  8. Trains new volunteers on the policies and procedures of delivering with the Home Delivered Meals program;
  9. Plans and organizes annual volunteer appreciation dinner and training;
  10. Writes monthly nutrition article; and
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Ability to gain thorough knowledge of St. Mary's County Government policies and procedures;
  2. Ability to effectively communicate with members of the public in a courteous and caring manner;
  3. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  4. Ability to navigate varying home environments, which may include stairs, pets, or non-ADA-compliant spaces;
  5. Expert knowledge of Department practices and procedures and of the operations, procedures, and principles of assigned program;
  6. Expert knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations regarding the administration of assigned program(s);
  7. Knowledge of County and Federal fiscal management;
  8. Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members; ability to coordinate, advise, and work with other professionals;
  9. Ability to prioritize and multitask;
  10. Ability to review and analyze existing information and make informed and sound decisions;
  11. Ability to use available resources to research information;
  12. Ability to keep accurate records; and
  13. Ability to operate relevant computer systems, including hardware and software.

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree;
  2. Three years or more of experience or additional education in a specialized area;
  3. Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.

Additional Requirements:
  1. Must possess a valid driver's license;
  2. Must receive Safe Food Handling certification within 6 months of hire;
  3. Must successfully pass background investigation with favorable results;
  4. Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work requires moderate physical effort with occasional handling of materials or boxes 50+pounds

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts associated with the position, which require standard safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting rooms, and consumer homes. This position also requires in-home visits. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls are necessary.
