Program Control Analyst

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Work Location: Herndon, VA

Shift: Monday - Friday

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Program Control Analyst to join our finance team. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in government contracting finance, a proactive mindset, and the ability to partner effectively with program management to drive financial performance and compliance across a portfolio of contracts.

Your duties in the role include (but are not limited to):
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze Estimates at Completion (EACs), forecasts, and variance analyses to support sound program financial management and strategic planning
  • Ability to manage multiple programs with different contract types and requirements
  • Establish and manage active charge numbers, monitor actual cost charges against budgets, and process cost transfers to ensure accurate cost collection
  • Conduct monthly project reviews, assessing financial performance against budgets and cost proposals and preparing clear, substantiated variance explanations
  • Maintain continuous visibility into program funding status, proactively flagging risks and coordinating corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure all contractual financial requirements are met; deliver accurate, timely financial reports and other customer deliverables in accordance with contract terms
  • Monitor and analyze revenue and profit recognition, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policy
  • Prepare, review, and approve customer invoices; track billing status and analyze unbilled balances to minimize aging and support cash flow objectives
  • Serve as a financial partner to Program Managers and cross-functional teams, aligning program execution with organizational financial goals
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring financial records are audit-ready
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to management, program teams, and customers as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
  • Minimum 1 year of Program/Project Control experience supporting a U.S. Government Contractor, with direct exposure to FFP, T&M, and Cost-Plus Award Fee contract types
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with program management teams and diverse functional organizations


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience administering IDIQ contracts with multiple concurrent task orders
  • Background supporting dynamic, sensitive, or classified government programs
  • Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint ERP system
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Experience with Smartsheet for project tracking and collaboration
  • Familiarity with Service Contract Act (SCA) requirements and their application to contract administration


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work at a desk using computers and other typical office equipment for extended periods of time up to 8 hours per day.
