Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Professional in Residence - Operations & Supply Chain Management to bring current industry expertise into the classroom and help prepare students for evolving careers in operations, supply chain management, and business analytics. This role offers the opportunity to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, incorporate emerging technologies and responsible applications of artificial intelligence, and mentor students in their academic and career development. The Professional in Residence will also strengthen connections between industry and academia by fostering employer relationships, supporting experiential learning, and helping ensure curriculum reflects current workforce needs and practices. This position is ideal for an experienced industry professional who is passionate about sharing practical knowledge, engaging with students, and contributing to the continued growth and relevance of UVU's Woodbury School of Business.
Summary of Responsibilities

  • Designs, prepares, and delivers undergraduate and graduate courses in Operations and Supply Chain Management using engaging, applied instructional methods across face-to-face, hybrid, livestream, and online modalities. Integrates data visualization, statistical analysis, AI-enabled analytics tools, and modern business intelligence platforms into instruction. Evaluates student learning using appropriate assessments and provides timely, constructive feedback while fostering a supportive, student-centered learning environment.
  • Serves as liaison between the school and industry to inform curriculum and validate workforce-aligned skills. Coordinates applied-learning opportunities (projects, guest speakers, panels, practicums/internships as assigned). Maintains active professional engagement and currency in the field, consistent with school policy.
  • Designs and administers assessments aligned to course outcomes using clear criteria/rubrics; provides timely feedback. Holds regular office hours. Advises and mentors students on career paths, skill development, professional preparation, and job-search strategies.
  • Participates in departmental, school, and university committees and initiatives. Contributes to curriculum assessment, continuous improvement, accreditation activities, program development, recruitment, and student engagement efforts. Collaborates with faculty to assess learning outcomes and improve instructional effectiveness. Performs other related duties as assigned. Designs and administers assessments aligned to course outcomes using clear criteria/rubrics; provides timely feedback. Holds regular office hours. Advises and mentors students on career paths, skill development, professional preparation, and job-search strategies.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in Operations and Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field; or a master's degree in a related business discipline combined with substantial professional experience in operations and supply chain management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in operations and supply chain management, business intelligence, data science, analytics consulting, decision support, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contemporary analytics tools and technologies commonly used in industry.
  • Evidence of maintaining professional currency through industry practice, consulting, professional certifications, continuing education, or leadership in the analytics profession.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operations and supply chain management with experience applying analytical methods to support business decision-making, organizational effectiveness, and emerging technologies. Familiarity with business strategy, artificial intelligence, operations, or supply chain contexts is desirable, along with a commitment to industry engagement and student success.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in higher education or delivering professional training.
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Tableau Certified Professional, AWS Data Analytics, Google
  • Professional Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, Databricks, SAS, Snowflake, or similar industry-recognized credentials.
