Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Night Shift Supervisor reports to the Manufacturing Manager. The major areas of responsibility for this position are supervising manufacturing employees to ensure a well-executed shift while working alongside employees and provide Technical Support to your respective Manufacturing departments/cell(s).

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Direct staff for work assignments based upon priority
  • Lead by creating an engaged and positive environment on the Night Shift
  • Ensure Night Shift personnel are executing their job responsibilities
  • Hold employees accountable to the ITW employee handbook and established performance accountability processes by consistently addressing and documenting unacceptable behaviors, poor performance, and attendance issues. Leverage the Manufacturing and/or Plant Manager for support and direction, as needed.
  • Effectively lead and manage the performance and development of direct reports by managing employee relations, complete annual performance evaluations, interview prospective hires, and lead onboarding and training initiatives
  • Maintain attendance records daily to ensure smooth payroll processing for the specified time interval
  • Develop plans for coverage with cell leaders
  • Report absent employees to the appropriate Manufacturing personnel and assist in restructuring available resources to maximize machine uptime
  • Onboard new team members by:
    • Utilizing work instructions, training presentations, and on-the-job training
    • Identifying team members to help develop their skills during the initial training period determined by you
    • Conducting 30/60/90 day reviews at each specified interval using the established checklist
  • Ensure safe working conditions, rules and practices are followed, and work with Cell personnel to ensure 5S activities are implemented and are being completed
  • Develop team members by identifying and promoting training and other improvement activities
  • Troubleshoot/monitor manufacturing bottlenecks
  • Support the materials team by identifying and resolving material central feed system alarms, as needed
  • Enforce material handling and inventory processes with the materials team
  • Communicate shift reports via email, crossover meetings, and/or text to the appropriate Senior Leadership, Manufacturing, Quality, Customer Relations, and Reliability personnel
  • Conduct ongoing communication with General Techs through Gemba walks and daily shift crossover meetings
  • Ensure containment and traceability of non-conforming product is completed or communicated to the next shift
  • Manage the inventory status of approved and non-conforming product utilizing the ERP system
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities for factors affecting overall product quality
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Collect and report Manufacturing metrics as assigned and continuously work to create and execute improvement plans
  • Responsible for part quality associated with set up and processing parameters
  • Use personal computer, dial/digital calipers, gauges, hand tools, hand/power lift trucks, and overhead cranes
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned


Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience Leading and Holding Team Members accountable is a must.
  • Willing to hold themselves and others accountable for the roles and duties that have been assigned to them
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, is a plus
  • Learn about the job duties of a General Technician, Material Handler, and/or Mold Technician
  • Technical experience with plastic injection molding preferred, along with hands-on experience with raw materials, mold set-up, and troubleshooting skills for material central feed systems
  • Qualified candidate will possess a good work ethic, is reliable, and dedicated to quality. Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to lift 55 lbs
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (English), good visual skills, and reasoning ability
  • Team player who demonstrates the ability to relate to employees at all levels of the organization


Compensation Information:

$75,000-$95,000
