Full Job Description
Job Overview:

This 2nd Shift Production Supervisor will manage assigned processes and personnel to meet or exceed company and departmental goals. Oversee efficient production of quality products through effective communication with managers, subordinates, and all other departments within the organization.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily production activities by reviewing schedules, processing specifications, equipment needs, materials, staffing, and line set-ups to meet production goals.
  • Partner with Production Scheduling, Sanitation, Warehouse, Maintenance, Accounting, R&D, and other departments to support efficient, cost-effective operations and successful project execution.
  • Assign employees to work areas and tasks, communicate expectations clearly, and use labour effectively to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, train, and develop employees through formal training, performance management, employee involvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage employee-related actions in partnership with Human Resources, including hiring, disciplinary action, time and attendance, leave, promotions, reviews, and training requirements.
  • Promote and maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment by monitoring work areas, reinforcing safe work practices, following labour laws and regulations, and supporting all required safety programs.
  • Ensure production quality, food safety, and documentation requirements are met, including HACCP, raw material usage, finished production, downtime, staffing, accident reports, work orders, and related records.
  • Model and reinforce Company policies, the Code of Conduct, vision, and values while fostering a positive work environment and completing other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree is desired
  • Management and Supervision courses and/or training coupled with the ability to successfully coach, guide and direct team members
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and evaluate costs involved with production
  • Proven ability to communicate with team members whom have limited English or experience communication barriers
  • Minimum three (3) years of manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Experience with Food Manufacturing desirable
  • Experience with HACCP desirable
  • Agreement to obtain USDC HACCP Certification
  • Agreement obtain and regularly update Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certifications

Salary Transparency: High Liner Foods' compensation offerings are founded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $73,000 - $90,000; the base pay is offered based on a variety of factors including geographical market location, and may vary depending on job grading practices, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity factors. As part of our total rewards offering, employees may be eligible to participate in an annual short-term incentive program [and long-term incentive program] (for Dir+) subject to program eligibility requirements.

Office Environment:
The noise level in the office work environment is moderately quiet.

Plant Environment:
The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors. Flexibility of work hours. Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time if needed.

Physical requirements/Allergens

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to off-site meetings. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate with clients, coworkers, employees and vendors.
