Overview
The purpose of the Production Supervisor is to lead, oversee, and optimize the production processes to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality metal fabrication. This role plays a crucial part in achieving operational excellence by managing and motivating a team of skilled workers, coordinating workflow, and maintaining equipment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for meeting production targets, minimizing downtime, and upholding strict quality control standards. Their leadership and problem-solving skills are instrumental in driving productivity, reducing waste, and ensuring a smooth and effective manufacturing operation, ultimately contributing to the company's overall success and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Ensure team members are aware of and adhere to safety rules and equipment usage.
- Maintain clean, neat, and orderly work areas within the team.
- Manage team performance to ensure quality standards are met.
- Coordinate effective training for team members.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure efficient plant operation.
- Continuously improve team performance and measure progress toward team goals.
- Schedule and coordinate resources, including manpower and machinery.
- Manage supplies inventory (direct and indirect).
- Oversee the maintenance of team facilities and equipment.
- Ensure accurate computer transactions.
- Develop and maintain staffing and succession plans.
- Operate within the team budget.
- Contribute to division capital projects and strategic plans.
- Develop and execute a team operational plan.
- Demonstrate technical expertise in the area of responsibility.
- Achieve key metrics as defined for each reporting period.
Qualifications
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field or relevant work experience preferred.
- Three to Five years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Exposure to other Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is advantageous.
Key Competencies:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, technical procedures, and regulations.
- Proficient in writing reports and business correspondence.
- Effective in presenting information and responding to questions from various stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, peers, and staff
- Basic math skills.
