Full Job Description
The Production Manager is responsible for developing and achieving safety, quality, and production goals at the Jackson site. He/she is accountable for the safety performance of the majority of the personnel working at the facility, and he/she is a role model for desired safety behaviors. The Production Manager achieves optimal production, quality and utilization results through effective coordination of equipment and manpower with timely scheduling of maintenance and process improvement projects. Within Operations, there are four First-Line Supervisors, a Process Specialist and 65 non-exempt employees reporting to this position. This position also manages the Logistics resources within the Jackson plant, which includes the Logistics Supervisor and his/her personnel. The Production Manager is responsible for approximately 75% of the Jackson workforce, and approximately 60% of the Jackson fixed cost budget. #LI-RH1

A Day in the Life

1) Support the health, safety and environmental initiatives and programs at the Jackson facility.
• Acts as a role model for desired safety behaviors
• Utilizes incident reports and other information to drive continuous improvement in safety.
• Drives consistency in shift practices and safety standards.
• Actively participates as a leader in all site safety processes and rituals.
2) Achieve or exceed KPI targets for production, logistics, quality and rework results.
• Manage production to achieve production goals and conform with production schedule. If schedule changes are needed, facilitate with all stakeholders in communicating necessary changes.
• Actively drive reduction in offspec production. Utilize data to identify and eliminate root causes of nonconforming material. Ensure nonconforming material is reworked as aggressively as possible.
• Ensure sufficient management and oversight of inventories to minimize working capital and optimize inventory accuracy.
• Utilize quality incident reports, QNs, and other sources of data to proactively drive improvements in processes and performance to improve product quality.
• Manage Operations responsibilities and activities to achieve compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 management system requirements.
• Ensure thorough root cause analyses and effective corrective actions for customer complaints (QNs).
3) Meets or beats fixed cost budget and overtime targets
• Actively monitor cost performance on a regular basis. Understand and control spending within assigned cost center.
• Actively monitor overtime scheduling and work with FLS's to minimize the need for overtime. Provide operating line priorities to facilitate decision-making when personnel are not available.
• Work with Human Resources to fill vacant positions.
4) Responsible for professional development of all personnel, with a focus on First-Line Supervisors and Logistics personnel. Work with First-Line Supervisors to develop their leadership capabilities and maximize consistency across shifts.
• Provide individual and group coaching to FLS's to develop their leadership skills and drive consistency in procedures and practices across shifts. Actively mentor new Supervisors (using JKO FLS Development guide) as needed to maximize their impact.
• Complete development planning with Process Engineer to leverage his abilities and further his career.
• Actively address and resolve personnel performance issues within Operations.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Polymer Science, or Business Management is preferred

Work Experience:
At least five years of manufacturing experience (production, maintenance, laboratory and quality management systems) with roles in supervisory or management positions. Experience in thermoplastic compounding and extrusion would be beneficial. A general knowledge and understanding of plant operations, capacity planning and manufacturing is a plus.

The incumbent is a leader at the site in modeling the desired safety behaviors. He or she is accountable for the safety of all personnel in Operations. He/she participates in the Lyondellbasell commitment to the HSE policy and ISO14001 through an awareness of and adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental programs, together with management of environmental aspects of plant performance and all HSE aspects of departmental performance. The incumbent uses safe work practices, participates in site safety programs and rituals, addresses safety issues with a sense of urgency, and actively drives continuous improvement in site safety performance and culture.
