Summary

The Production Maintenance Mechatronics 2nd Shift Team Lead provides technical and day-to-day leadership for the Production Maintenance team on 2nd shift. This position serves as the primary technical resource and point of contact for the shift, coordinating maintenance activities, supporting troubleshooting and repairs, and ensuring effective communication and shift coverage. The Team Lead will maintain the technical skillset of a Production Maintenance Mechatronics Technician II or III while taking on additional leadership responsibilities. The position is expected to remain hands-on and actively participate in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and equipment improvement activities. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical ability, sound judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize maintenance activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership and direction to 2nd shift Production Maintenance Mechatronics Technicians.
  • Serve as the primary maintenance point of contact for Production and other departments during 2nd shift.
  • Prioritize and coordinate maintenance activities based on equipment condition, production needs, safety, and business priorities.
  • Assign and distribute work among technicians based on skill level, workload, and equipment needs.
  • Monitor the progress of corrective and preventive maintenance activities throughout the shift.
  • Escalate significant equipment issues, safety concerns, staffing issues, and production-impacting events to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide effective shift-to-shift communication and ensure important equipment conditions, outstanding work, and issues are properly communicated during passdown.
  • Support technicians with difficult troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, safety, and a professional working environment.
  • Diagnose and repair advanced issues involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain automated machinery, robotics, conveyors, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, drives, motors, actuators, and other mechatronic systems.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production and automated equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and technical drawings and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, sensors, and control systems.
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Conduct or support root cause analysis for recurring or significant equipment failures.
  • Recommend corrective actions and improvements to reduce equipment downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Act as a technical resource during complex equipment failures and coordinate troubleshooting efforts among technicians.
  • Support OEMs, vendors, contractors, and engineering personnel during major repairs, installations, and equipment improvements when required.


Who You Are

  • Technical skillset equivalent to a Mechatronics Technician II or III.
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.
  • Proficiency troubleshooting PLCs, sensors, motors, drives, actuators, and automated equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and technical schematics.
  • Experience with robotics, automated machinery, conveyors, or other industrial automation preferred.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Familiarity with CMMS (preferably SAP) software and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and mentor other technicians.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance activities in a manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions
  • Manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to electrical panels, machinery, noise, heat, and moving parts.
  • Regular physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, climbing ladders up to 40 ft, and working in confined spaces.
  • 2nd shift work schedule with potential for overtime, weekends, and on-call availability.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training, equipment support, vendor/OEM activities, or other business needs.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.


Belimo is committed to paying all employees in a fair, equitable and transparent manner. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,000 - $95,000 annually with a target performance bonus of 15% of an employee's annual base salary. This position has an additional shift differential. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
