Product Support Hardware Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
A Product Support Hardware Engineer for the Product Support Team (PST) works directly with Product Management, Production, Sourcing, Suppliers, Field Service, Customers, and Development Engineering to resolve production, obsolescence, and customer field issues.
A PST Hardware Engineer will execute the following responsibilities as a minimum:
  • Design, develop and maintain hardware for embedded, real-time systems operating in harsh environments.
  • Troubleshoot product and field issues and provide documented solutions and implement design changes. Troubleshooting and providing solutions to product issues will require problem solving, test development, analysis of field and/or production test data, requirements analysis, hardware design, hardware field installation and test.
  • Generate and review technical documentation, provide product training, advise on product application options to both internal and external customers, test and critique new product features.
  • The PST Hardware Engineer in this role will require travel about 10% of the time.
Basic Qualifications:
  • BSEE or Equivalent Degree.
  • 10 years' minimum experience in digital hardware design, microprocessor board level design, VHDL/FPGA and analog circuit design.
  • Strong technical problem solving skills.
  • Sound Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) background.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools.
  • Proficient designing for high noise and harsh environments.
  • Proven ability to lead a vital design from concept to production release.
  • Drive open technical issues to closure.
  • Familiarity with design for railroad products and systems and their environments.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills with the proven ability to lead and work as part of a project team.
  • Basic understanding of Product Lifecycle Management principles and experiences using PLM tools is necessary to be successful in this role.
  • Experience with PC board layout and associated tools, and have experience with CENELEC and AREMA standards.

  • Familiarization with Railroad Signaling and maintenance practices as well as onboard systems.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Grain Valley, MO is $105,400 - $158,200 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. KB Signaling is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies.
