Full Job Description
As we continue to scale, we're looking for a strategic and hands-on Product Owner, Business Systems to join our technology team. This role will be embedded within our Engineering organization and will own our business systems roadmap, beginning with our enterprise migration to NetSuite and expanding to include the broader platforms that power our supply chain and fulfillment operations, including WMS and logistics/shipping software.

The ideal candidate combines strong product ownership fundamentals-including roadmap development, backlog management, and stakeholder collaboration-with deep NetSuite expertise. This is a product ownership role first; however, the successful candidate will serve as Maxwood's internal NetSuite expert, partnering closely with our implementation consultants to ensure the solution is designed, configured, and deployed to support both our current business needs and future growth. Comfort with technical concepts and integrations is essential, while hands-on coding experience is a plus-not a requirement.

This role reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and works closely with other Product Owners to ensure alignment, share best practices, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives. The initial focus of this role will be leading our NetSuite implementation, followed by long-term ownership of our business systems portfolio.
What You'll Do
Phase 1: NetSuite Migration
  • Own the end-to-end roadmap and delivery plan for our ERP migration to NetSuite in partnership with our implementation partner and Finance and Operations stakeholders.
  • Lead process mapping of existing business workflows, including financials, inventory, order management, and reporting, identifying gaps and configuration decisions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between Maxwood and the NetSuite implementation partner, holding them accountable to scope, timeline, and quality.
  • Coordinate data migration, integration cutover with connected systems (Shopify, warehouse/3PL, EDI, and others), and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Manage cutover planning, go-live execution, contingency planning, and post-launch support.
Phase 2: Business Systems Product Ownership
  • Own the long-term product roadmap for NetSuite, prioritizing enhancements, new modules, and integrations as the business grows.
  • Expand ownership to the broader business systems portfolio over time, including WMS, logistics/shipping software, and other supply chain technologies.
  • Partner with Finance and Operations leaders to translate evolving business needs into clear product requirements and priorities.
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate resolution of integration issues between NetSuite and connected platforms, including Shopify, EDI, reporting tools, and other business systems.
  • Own vendor relationships and support escalations for NetSuite and other business systems platforms.
Strategic Leadership
  • Align business strategy with product execution and own the roadmap for our business systems portfolio.
  • Establish project timelines, milestones, and priorities that accelerate delivery while supporting long-term scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with fellow Product Owners to ensure consistency and alignment across technology initiatives.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary liaison for NetSuite and business systems implementation partners.
  • Provide frequent project updates to Finance, Operations, and Technology leadership.
  • Coordinate with other Product Owners on initiatives involving internal engineering resources, including Shopify, EDI, and system integrations.
Project & Backlog Management
  • Own and prioritize the roadmap and backlog for NetSuite and business systems initiatives, balancing immediate business needs with long-term strategy.
  • Track project milestones and communicate progress to appropriate stakeholder groups.
  • Identify project risks and blockers proactively and drive resolution.
Requirements Gathering & Delivery
  • Gather and document business requirements from Finance and Operations teams.
  • Translate business requirements into clear scope and priorities for implementation partners and engineering teams.
  • Guide projects from discovery through deployment while keeping stakeholders aligned throughout the lifecycle.
  • Facilitate user training and adoption following new feature releases and implementations.
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, ideally supporting ERP, supply chain, operations, or ecommerce platforms.

  • Strong understanding of NetSuite architecture, integrations, and ERP best practices.
  • Interest and aptitude for expanding ownership to additional business systems such as WMS, logistics, shipping, and fulfillment platforms.
  • General understanding of core financial and operational business processes, including order-to-cash, inventory management, and financial reporting.
  • Strong project management skills with experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience with enterprise project management tools, preferably Jira and Confluence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable technical work.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations teams.
  • Hands-on scripting or development experience is a plus but is not required.
