Your Role

The Product Marketing team oversees the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy and delivery of multiple Blue Shield of California products, enabling Marketing, Product (e.g., Product Strategy, Healthcare Quality & Affordability, Digital Experience), and Sales to successfully bring offerings to market. The Product Marketing Strategist, Consultant reports to the Senior Manager of Product Marketing. In this role, you will drive GTM strategy development and execution for product launches, as well as serve as the main marketing point of contact for Product. Collaborating with key Product, Marketing and Sales partners, this role serves as a strategic hub for key go-to-market (GTM) strategies, including aligning appropriate marketing resources to support all Product launches, developing competitive positioning and messaging for the GTMs you drive, and orchestrating cross-functional alignment and consistency in GTM execution.

Responsibilities

Your Work

In this role, you will:
  • Drive GTM strategy development for key GTMs within defined scope, timelines, and business objectives
  • Ensure GTM alignment with enterprise business objectives and customer needs
  • Apply market research, competitive intelligence, and data insights to represent the voice of the customer within GTM strategy
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and Sales teams to develop positioning, messaging, value propositions, and proof points that resonate with B2B/B2C audiences and differentiates Blue Shield of California's products in the marketplace
  • Drive GTM strategy and execution across teams to maximize target audience reach and engagement, delivering on-time and on-budget
  • Manage stakeholders through strong communication, reliability, and follow-through within assigned initiatives
  • Create and deliver presentations and materials for internal audiences, with guidance from the Senior Manager
  • Track and report on defined KPIs and performance metrics to assess GTM effectiveness and identify optimization opportunities
  • Escalate risks, tradeoffs, or ambiguity when direction or authority is unclear
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager to receive direction on priorities, sequencing, and approach for complex or high-visibility workstreams
  • Forge relationships with key product owners across Product Strategy, Healthcare Quality & Affordability, and Digital Experience to become the "first marketing point of contact" for Product
  • Understand product roadmap, marketing bandwidth, and key stakeholder priorities to facilitate product launch prioritization for the marketing function
  • Drive key Product Marketing function projects to lift team visibility across the Enterprise


Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience
  • Requires bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Healthcare, Public Health, or related field; graduate degree is highly desirable
  • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience in product marketing, marketing, product strategy, or related field
  • Requires experience with product launches that deliver measurable business impact
  • Requires experience driving go-to-market initiatives with multiple stakeholders
  • Requires experience using market research, competitive insights, and performance data to champion the voice of the customer to stakeholders
  • Requires experience in B2B, B2C, and/or B2B2C environments
  • Demonstrated history of successfully managing complex projects
  • Strong analytical and execution skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality outputs on time and within scope
  • Experience applying best practices, frameworks, and operating models to solve well-defined problems
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage stakeholders within a project or functional workstream
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively
  • Background in healthcare (payer or digital health), highly regulated industries, or digital technology strongly preferred

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
