What You'll DoAt Principal, our Investment Services and Operations platforms are essential to delivering retirement and investment solutions for millions of customers! These platforms support key capabilities including investment lineup setup and maintenance, daily retirement investment trading, trade execution, movement of money, pricing and valuation processes, operational controls, and the administration of investment products offered across our retirement business.
The Product Manager drives product strategy through backlog prioritization and delivery, helping ensure operational efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and compliance while driving positive customer and business outcomes! Depending on business needs and product assignment, the Product Manager may focus on areas such as investment lineup configuration and maintenance, retirement investment trading, trade processing, cash movement, pricing and valuation, or related investment services capabilities.
Product Strategy:
- Partners with a Product Manager or Senior Product Manager to understand the product strategy and executing against the strategy
- Develops understanding of product strategy in context of the enterprise and business strategies.
Product Discovery:
- Accountable for understanding and defining key business outcomes and requirements for their product and executes experiments.
- Finds opportunities/problems to solve and articulates hypotheses and improves or maintains an effective parallel discovery and delivery model.
- Leads the product team (design, engineering, and various business roles) in ideating and running experiments.
- Assesses value of experiments, collaborates to draw out insights, and shares findings with key partners and stakeholders and figures out which work should be prioritized into the product.
Product Delivery:
- Accountable for success of product delivery and partners with team to deliver quality with value.
- Work to remove impediments and manage dependencies that the team may face in the pursuit of value creation.
- Ensures the product team has the business, customer, user, and stakeholder context required to solve problems effectively and efficiently.
- Collaborates on story creation and refinement, definition and success criteria, prioritization, and accepts work as done.
Product Assessment:
- Ensures every goal-aligned unit of value created by the team(s) is measurable and can show progress towards product goals. Responsible for assessment practices of a team(s).
- Monitors and communicates product health, impact of product releases, and progress against product goals.
- Responsible and accountable for meeting product outcomes and making enhancements to the go-to-market strategy, product, etc. to meet them.
Stakeholder Management and Communication:
- Communicates discovery and delivery priorities, results of experiments, quantifiable progress to goals, and delivery health of their product with stakeholders.
- Find opportunities to improve the practice within their sphere of responsibility; and work as part of the team to continuously improve.
Who You Are
- 2+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education
- 1+ year working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with engineering teams and stakeholders
- Solid understanding of investment products, including mutual funds, collective investment trusts, target-date funds, managed accounts, or retirement plan investment offerings
- Ability to understand and translate sophisticated investment concepts into product requirements and user-focused solutions.
- Prior experience in a product environment, exposure to the Product Manager role, and experience with stakeholder and relationship management
- Experience with critical thinking, decision making, handling multiple workloads, and competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience leading, influencing, and negotiating in a professional team environment along with leveraging diverse perspectives and using data to advise action

Salary Range InformationSalary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Time Off ProgramFlexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA or Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
Hours
This role partners closely with global teams and requires flexibility in work hours including participation in early morning meetings across multiple time zones.

We are open to hiring at the next level, Product Manager 2, based on skills and experience.
