About the Role:

As a Product Health Engineer at Caterpillar, you will be responsible for investigating and addressing customer issues with Caterpillar products including engines, transmissions, energy storage systems, and connected solutions. This position will work directly with design controls, dealers, and end users with the goal of making a positive impact on customer experience and improving customer retention.  

Additional Information:

· This position can sit in Houston, Texas or Lafayette IN.

· Up to 10% of travel is required, including globally.

· Relocation assistance is available for this position.

· This position requires working onsite five days a week.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the Product Health Engineering lead for Caterpillar G3500 and G3600 engines operating in Oil & Gas gas-compression applications.

  • Act as the primary technical interface between customers, Caterpillar dealers, account management teams, and engineering organizations to understand, document, and resolve product performance and reliability concerns.

  • Investigate customer-reported engine issues by analyzing field data, identifying root causes, and coordinating corrective actions with cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Drive priority and completion of high-impact Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects affecting O&G customers to reduce pain points and improve product reliability, durability, and customer satisfaction.

  • Provide regular CPI updates and technical overview of product issues to the Oil & Gas product group, commercial organizations, and senior leadership.

  • Present technical findings, corrective action plans, and product improvement status directly to customers and dealer organizations.

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive technical support, responsiveness, and a commitment to resolving complex field issues.

  • Travel to customer sites to evaluate product performance, investigate emerging concerns, support issue resolution efforts, and identify future product improvement opportunities.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus while serving as a trusted technical advisor for Oil & Gas gas-compression engine applications.

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Top Candidates Will Have:

· Demonstrated ability to cultivate customer & dealer relationships

· Oil & Gas industry experience

· Experience across multiple product lines (large engines, transmissions, well service pumps, motors, controls, power generation, other)

· Prior experience in dealer/customer facing positions

· Demonstrated high levels of motivation (self-starter / take initiative)

· Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information effectively

· Oil and Gas industry experience in a technical support role

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology or equivalent experience

· 3+ years of experience with large equipment/power systems

· Experience working w/ varied disciplines (engineering, customers, dealers, product support, operations, marketing)


     

    Summary Pay Range:

    $112,710.00 - $169,060.00

    Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
