Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides engineering and technical support for Service Center operations related to customer equipment repairs, refurbishments, upgrades, and modifications. Evaluates existing and legacy equipment to determine repair feasibility, technical requirements, compatibility of replacement components, and overall scope of work. Works closely with Service, Operations, Sales, and Customers to develop practical engineering solutions that support turnaround time, quality, and profitability objectives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:
  • Reviews customer equipment, drawings, specifications, and historical records todeterminerepair, retrofit, ormodificationfeasibility.
  • Evaluates obsolete and legacy equipment designs toidentifytechnical limitations, compatibility concerns, andviableengineering solutions.
  • Creates and revises mechanical and electrical documentation, bills of materials (BOMs), repair instructions, and modification packages asrequired.
  • Supports Service Center personnel byprovidingtechnical guidance during teardown, troubleshooting, repair, testing, andrebuildactivities.
  • Works directly with Operations and Production teams to resolve technical issuesimpactingservice schedules, repair quality, or customer requirements.
  • Interfaces with customers, vendors, and internal departments to clarify technical requirements and recommend repair or upgrade options.
  • Assistsinidentifyingreplacement components, reverse engineering requirements, and alternative solutions for discontinued or unavailable parts.
  • Reviews engineering changes and assesses impacttoexisting field equipment and serviceability.
  • Supports quoting activities by evaluating technical scope, labor requirements, material needs, and engineering risk associated with repair ormodificationwork.
  • Ensures all repair and modification activitiescomply withapplicable engineering standards, safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Participates in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts related to recurring equipment failures and service issues.
  • Maintainsaccurateengineering documentation and service records for completed projects and customer equipment history.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Ability to evaluate existing equipment designs anddeterminepractical repair or modification solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technicaldetail.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally between Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced service environment.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:
  • 4 yearengineering degreerequired

Skills
  • Demonstrated problem solvingexpertise
  • Creative and flexible personality to work through changing responsibilities and customer requirements
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skillsrequiredtointerface withcustomers and vendors

Experience
  • Five or more years of professional experience with OEM design activities using mechanical design software packages and 3D modeling software, meeting schedules, and providing technical support
  • Comprehensive understanding of seismic,windand vibration calculations to support equipment designs (IBC)
  • Understanding of airflow, thermodynamics, and sound level dynamics (including measurement and instrumentation)


COMPUTER SKILLS:

Specific knowledge of AutoCAD, JDE, and Microsoft Applications
