- Translate customer requirements and product concepts into reliable, cost-effective and manufacturable designs
- Develop prototypes and conduct design validation and process validation testing
- Lead design for manufacturability and design for assembly reviews in partnership with manufacturing engineering
- Resolve design, processing and production challenges with minimal supervision
- Provide hands-on engineering support to the production floor when components do not fit, tolerance stacks fail, or assembly problems occur
- Investigate nonconformances, scrap and quality escapes connected to product design
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for failures identified in production, testing or the field
- Develop test protocols, conduct testing and document results for pressure, load, material, environmental and cycle requirements
- Support product certification and compliance with applicable AWWA, NSF, ASTM and other industry standards
- Partner with Sales, Product Management, Manufacturing and Quality to balance customer needs, production capabilities and performance requirements
- Review supplier drawings, specifications and technical documentation for outsourced components
