Now Hiring – Product Engineer, Lean Manufacturing – Houston

 

Hours: 7am - 3pm, M-F

 

The Product Engineer is responsible for, but not limited to:

  1. Position Summary
  2. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and improving lean manufacturing processes that deliver high-quality products safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This role partners with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality to improve manufacturability, reduce waste, and support continuous improvement.
  3. Key Responsibilities
  4. Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standard work.
  5. Interpret engineering drawings, customer documentation, and BOMs to ensure manufacturing readiness.
  6. Review BOMs for completeness and manufacturability; identify missing components and recommend improvements.
  7. Support new product introductions, prototype builds, and engineering change implementation (ECNs).
  8. Design efficient workstation layouts, kitting processes, tooling, and material flow using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  9. Lead continuous improvement initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, visual management, waste elimination, and error-proofing (Poka-Yoke).
  10. Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions to improve quality, productivity, and throughput.
  11. Support product costing, quoting, and cost reduction initiatives.
  12. Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality to improve manufacturability and product quality.
  13. Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including assembly instructions, process flows, and inspection plans.
  14. Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  15. Qualifications
  16. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  17. Experience in manufacturing engineering, process improvement, or lean manufacturing.
  18. Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
  19. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

 

Professional Experience:

  • 5 years of product engineering experience in an EMS environment
  • Extensive PCB, wire or box build assembly experience and knowledge
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP
