At Lam, as a Product Engineer, you thrive in high-stakes, dynamic environment, driving product development at the forefront of the semiconductor equipment industry. Collaborating closely with customers and internal teams, you will provide real-time problem-solving to customer challenges and to enhance our products. Your passion for engaging with customers and innovative engineering drives progress in our industry, tackling the once unsolvable.

In this role, you will directly contribute to support fabrication of complex ceramic components.

What you'll do

  • Supports the development and manufacturing of complex semiconductor capital equipment with primary focus on complex process chamber components.
  • The position requires close interaction with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and customers to drive product development from prototyping through high volume manufacturing.
  • The engineer will play an active role managing projects and products relative to supplier manufacturing development, quality initiatives, supplier selection, and problem solving.
  • Project management duties include working with cross-functional teams consisting of supply business management, engineering, manufacturing, field service and suppliers to provide feedback and requirements during product development through to production release.
  • Candidates need to exhibit excellent problem solving skills: defining the problem, identify objectives, assess risk, develop approach, analyze results and provide recommendations.
  • Ideal candidate will direct manufacturing of complex chamber component using variety of manufacturing processes such as metal and ceramic material production, machining, grinding, coating, bonding and surface treatment.


Who we're looking for

  • BS degree in engineering disciplines in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering with 12 years of related exerience; or 8 years with a Master's degree, or Ph.D with 5 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with product development, supplier engagement, customer support experience with capital equipment or similar industries comprising electro-mechanical systems of high complexity
  • Working knowledge of ceramics, metals, coatings, polymers, and high temperature materials including fabrication techniques and engineering properties, thermal and electrical systems
  • Experience in ceramic materials and manufacturing processes such as forming, sintering, machining, grinding, polishing, surface treatment.
  • Strong project management, organizational and communication skills within organization and outside suppliers
  • Experience in leading complex root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Ability to travel within US and internationally 20% of time


Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in semiconductor
  • Experience with electrostatic chucks manufacturing and development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage by influence and drive results with all levels of the organization inside and outside.
  • Functional and technical design experience in critical mechanical, electrical and thermal systems and sub-systems.
  • Experience designing, executing, and interpreting material characterization techniques such as SEM/EDS, XRD
  • Ability to use material science knowledge to improve performance of components
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab; Japanese language capability is a plus.


Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: Min $125,000 - Max $270,000.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
