Job Description:
As a Demo Operator Instructor, you will provide effective demonstration, safety, operation and application training of CAT equipment to customers, dealers, internal personnel, and varied audiences which support and promote the sale of Caterpillar products and services. The product demonstrator/instructor is the key producer to delivering an outstanding experience for all equipment-related programs at the demonstration and learning centers, dealer locations, and customer job sites.
What You Will Do:
The incumbent will conduct product demonstrations and narration, as well as safety, operation, and application training, which display a proven set of operating/application skills, product knowledge, and practical experience. These duties require an incumbent to possess a minimum of 8 years of operator experience in heavy construction, quarry/aggregates, and or mining industries. With seasoning, the incumbent gains broad operation skills, application expertise, and the ability to employ a wide range of demonstration, evaluation, analytical, and communication techniques and tools to assist in their job role.
Product and Job Site Evaluation/Recommendations:
Evaluate customer job sites to help maximize the efficiency of machine application and operation, machine selection and configuration, and safety of operations
Recommend modifications and improvements which result in superior product performance, producing greater returns to the customer and resulting in machine sales
Provide Voice of the Customer input by communicating with appropriate business units
Production Analysis Team:
Must hold or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License
Work autonomously in preparation and execution of job study
Conduct job studies on all models of Caterpillar and competitive products at various job sites
Compile, analyze, and present data acquired during job study to customers, dealers, or internal business partner
Sales Support:
Provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to the dealer sales force and Caterpillar Field Reps during events at the Demonstration and Learning Centers
Provides support to potential customer purchases, both on and off-site during customer visits.
Supports Industry Trade Shows and New Machine Deliveries
Promote and Support Demonstration and Learning Centers:
Supports the division’s business plan by promoting sales and services
Manages/maintains onsite fleet, makes recommendations on future fleet, and assists in machine orders
Develop and maintain Demonstration and Learning Centers demo sites
Additional required responsibilities:
Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%
Uphold Caterpillar safety standards during all aspects of this job both onsite and offsite
Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, dealers, and internal business partners from diverse backgrounds
Maintain a professional demeanor
Basic Qualifications:
8+ years of operator experience in heavy construction, quarry/aggregates and/or mining industries
Experience working with Caterpillar products and their application.
Experience in operating multiple product families, at least four or more key product families
Basic Computer skills
Fluency in English
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Demonstrate the ability to develop required skills on remaining product families as determined by Caterpillar Equipment Training Solutions standards
Experience communicating with individuals at multiple levels of seniority, including the ability to diffuse high-pressure and potentially hostile situations when instructing customers. Experience professionally delivering presentations both in the classroom and the field.
Experience with Microsoft Office (basic use of Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Must be willing to obtain a CDL and valid US Passport within the first year of working
A Demonstrator Instructor’s (DI’s) day is fast-paced and ever-changing. This small team of extremely gifted operators wears many hats. Our motto is “Perfect is Close Enough” and that is how we approach each day. On any given day, a DI could be working on a project in the field, training customer operators, demonstrating equipment, conducting a machine photo shoot, or helping with the development of future products. If a DI is traveling, they might be conducting operator training, helping the dealer deliver a new machine, providing support for a trade show, or conducting a production study utilizing the Scale Truck. Regardless of which hat the DI is wearing he or she must put their best foot forward when representing Caterpillar and the Edwards Demonstration Center.

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
