Procurement Specialist

Location: Trenton (Hamilton), NJ
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $ 75,000-$90,000 + Incentive Reward

Position Summary

The Procurement Specialist position is responsible for material planning, sourcing, and purchasing materials and for quoting and negotiating for materials, supplies, and services to support order fulfillment for KNF production operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports quality, delivery, and cost initiatives and have sourcing responsibilities to manage commodities and develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Orders production materials, components, and services needed to support the manufacture of pump products.
  • Places and releases purchase orders and long-term blanket orders. Coordinates vendor First Article submission and inspection and manages open orders to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Negotiates with vendors regarding product or service price, availability, and delivery schedules. Maintains high-quality written and oral communications with suppliers and creates written supply contracts and agreements.
  • Optimizes supply chain continuity by aligning production demand with verified supplier capacity to implement level-loading strategies.
  • Maintains and updates SAP MRP master material data to ensure accurate material pricing and that lead times are updated.
  • Manages and maintains inventory levels to company goals at the raw, subassembly, WIP, and finished goods levels. Develops short- and long-term unit and dollar inventory projections at the raw, subassembly, WIP, and finished goods levels.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and derives key planning parameters such as safety stock, buffer stock, and lot sizes, and applies these parameters to assigned production materials to assist the team.
  • Reviews bills of materials for finished goods, secures and analyzes quotations to ensure accurate product cost calculation.
  • Coordinates quality issues and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
  • Occasional travel may be required (less than 10%, but could include domestic and international travel).


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of procurement experience, or an Associate's Degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Buying and strong material planning skills required; SAP experience preferred.
  • Ability to resolve issues relating to technical drawings and detailed bid specifications with minimal supervision.
