Job Overview
The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing purchasing and procurement operations across all Bigge locations, managing approximately $80MM in annual purchasing spend. This role reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager and manages 8 direct reports (Buyers and Expeditors) while partnering closely with Inventory, Service, and Operations teams to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing of parts, materials, services, and equipment in support of shop and field operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop procurement staff including Buyers and Expeditors.
- Oversee daily purchasing activities, requisition review, purchase order creation, and order expediting.
- Partner with Inventory, Service, and Operations leadership to forecast demand,
develop sourcing strategies, reduce stock-outs, and minimize excess inventory.
- Analyze purchasing data and drive cost-reduction initiatives.
- Track and report procurement performance against defined metrics, including PO cycle time, cost savings %, and on-time delivery %.
- Resolve vendor, quality, pricing, and delivery issues.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships while negotiating pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct regular reviews to improve service quality, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness
- Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and procurement best practices.
- Lead procurement process improvement efforts through training, technology, and automation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive purchasing or procurement experience.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (D365 preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Process-oriented mindset with demonstrated ability to establish standardized procurement procedures, improve workflows, and maintain purchasing compliance.
- Knowledge of construction and/or diesel-powered equipment preferred.
