Description
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and aligning individual goals with departmental goals and company objectives.
• Establish and oversee projects related to sourcing needs as directed or in support of strategic initiatives, new product development, inventory control, and cost reductions.
• Establish procedures to accomplish sourcing a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner with an emphasis on risk mitigation utilizing tools including but not limited to dual sourcing, kanban, consignment, online auctions, etc.
• Monitor, analyze, and communicate to stakeholders the latest economic, industrial, and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions to support present and future material availability.
• Lead and/or direct commodity managers and buyers in support of contract negotiations and vendor selection in collaboration with all stakeholders including engineering and product management.
• Monitor performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments producing a monthly scorecard for leadership.
• Build a culture of accountability and engagement by modeling company values, reinforcing performance standards, and recognizing results.
• Lead compliant procurement processes in accordance with regulatory requirements as well as company policies and procedures including quality procedures and standards.
• Drive cost reduction, lead-time reduction, and supplier performance improvements.
• Drive improvements in transactional and inventory accuracy to support operating at optimal levels of inventory and working capital.
• Support the organization in all negotiations related to 3rd party sourcing and purchasing.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Minimum five years' experience in a strategic sourcing role with a proven track record certifying new suppliers meeting Quality and Delivery needs domestically and internationally.
Skills: Proficient with MRP/ERP systems, Excel and other Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills necessary. Must be dependable, accurate, detail oriented and possess the ability to work well in a team environment. General knowledge of NAFTA and related international shipping requirements (e.g. customs, etc.)
Physical Requirements: Normal office environment which requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. May involve the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects of up to 15 to 20 pounds, infrequently. Willingness to travel as needed maintaining supplier relationships to include international destinations as needed.
