Job Title: Process Engineering Manager - Parts
Reports to: VP of Manufacturing
Location: San Marcos, Texas
The Process Engineering Manager leads the engineering team responsible for driving operational excellence, process stabilization, and technology integration across all parts manufacturing operations. This role directly owns process design, optimization, capital performance, and direct cost reduction across precision grinding, wire EDM (wirecut), automated inspection, deburring, and surface coating operations. You will bridge the gap between product design, quality requirements, and scalable high-yield production. What good is a job without great benefits to reward your hard work? What We Have To Offer:
• Competitive Base
• Medical/Dental/Vision insurance on day 1 of employment
• Health Saving Account (HSA) with Employer contribution
• Employee Assistance Program
• 401(k) retirement plan and match program
• Long Term Disability (Employer Paid)
• Short Term Disability (Employer Paid)
• Paid Time Off (eligible after 90 days of employment)
• Sick Leave (eligible after 90 days of employment)
• Company Paid Holidays
What You'll Be Doing:
Process Design & Optimization
• Core Process Management: Directing and optimizing production processes across precision grinding, wire EDM, automated deburring (mechanical/chemical/thermal), continuous/batch coating operations, and automated inspection systems.
• Standardization: Standardizing cycle times, tooling choices, process parameters, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for high-precision components. • Waste & Defect Reduction: Reducing scrap rates, rework, and cycle times through Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and process capability analyses (Cp / Cpk).
Automation & Quality Integration
• Automation Scaling: Leading the evaluation, integration, and scaling of automated vision systems, inline metrology, and robotic handling across parts manufacturing lines.
• Quality & SPC Alignment: Partnering with Quality Assurance to resolve non conformances, establish statistical process control (SPC) limits, and optimize closed loop feedback systems between inspection and machining/finishing operations.
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
• Team Leadership: Managing, mentoring, and building a high-performing team of process engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians.
• Lean Culture: Championing Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies across all core process cells to eliminate waste and maximize asset efficiency.
• CapEx Execution: Driving Capital Expenditure (CapEx) projects from justification and equipment selection through installation, commissioning, and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & Ownership
• First Pass Yield (FPY) & Scrap Rate: Achieving target yield metrics across all process steps (grinding, wirecut, deburring, coating, inspection) while minimizing total Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
• Throughput per Capital Dollar ($): Maximizing output volume and revenue throughput relative to invested equipment, machinery, and automation assets.
• Direct Product Cost (COGS): Driving down unit-level direct labor, cycle times, and consumable material costs through process stabilization, efficiency improvements, and automation.
• Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE): Maintaining target operational availability, machine speed performance, and quality rates across critical manufacturing equipment.
We are Looking for Someone Who:
• Has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering field (Master's preferred).
• Has 8+ years in precision manufacturing environments, with at least 3 years in a direct engineering leadership or supervisory role.
• Can demonstrate hands-on familiarity with tight-tolerance machining (Wire EDM, CNC/centerless grinding); direct experience with surface finishing (deburring) and functional coating application processes; demonstrated track record implementing automated inspection systems (Vision, CMM, structured light, or inline sensors). • Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Certification highly preferred.
Work Environment:
• Able to move up to 50lbs.
• Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately. • Can wear PPE.
• Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes. • Is capable of making repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.
