Job DescriptionPosition Overview The Process Engineer's primary focus is supporting the Upper's operational performance metrics for both Plastic Injection Molding and Assembly departments. This is done by driving the manufacturing process and tooling molding process optimization with scientific methods to deliver world class quality and productivity in a high volume, fast paced environment. Secondarily, work with LB's New Product Development (NPD) team's injection molding efforts to develop new molding tools and molding processes.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Establish new and improve existing product molding processes, procedures, and verify quality data to recommend any adjustments required to meet customer specifications and operational performance metrics.
- Apply and direct technical resources to solve complex engineering molding and assembly problems using the appropriate engineering tools and scientific principles. Eg - Six Sigma tools.
- Work closely with Group Performance Leader (Operations) to ensure complete alignment of technical support with production schedule & priorities.
- Provide tooling recommendations.
- Generate and maintain molding, tooling, and assembly related process documentation.
- Research and evaluate continual improvement suggestions in areas of molding, assembly, raw materials, and support equipment.
- Collaborate with NPD Engineers early in the design process with a focus on Design for Manufacturing and implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Support the generation and maintenance of part number, bills of materials, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Participate in customer piece part and assembly design efforts, suggesting improvements for manufacturability.
- Coordinate internal and external operational process related activities, guiding resources to obtain project objectives.
- Specify and provide justification for molding equipment, tooling improvements, assembly, and support equipment.
- Research product discrepancy cause and corrective action for all received product rejects, supply quality with appropriate data to submit to customer.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's in an engineering-related field preferred: Polymer Science, Chemical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Two-year degree and equivalent work experience accepted.
- 7+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in plastic injection molding, proven knowledge of Scientific Injection Molding, RJG Master Molder or equivalent.
- Strong data analytics, hands-on processing experience with plastic injection molding machines, ability to provide mentorship, ability to communicate professionally both internally and externally.
- Hands-on operational processing experience with Injection Molding Machines and all related ancillary equipment, melt indexing, hygrometer, pyrometer.
- Microsoft Suite, Minitab, MS Project, ability to operate a PLC.
