Full Job Description
Position: Process Engineer

Location: Nashua, NH

We are currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our Advanced Materials and Technology team. The position will be located in Nashua, NH.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a hands-on AMT Process Engineer to lead the development and optimization of a coating process for components used in high speed interconnects. The engineer will be responsible for designing, testing, and implementing scalable, robust processes that ensure product quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness. This role requires strong knowledge of polymer substrates, coating technologies, and process control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lead development and optimization of coating processes for connector and substrate applications.
  • Design, execute, and analyze Design of Experiments (DOE) to systematically optimize key process parameters.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and control process variation; establish control charts, define control limits, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Use Minitab or JMP for data analysis, capability studies (Cpk, Cmk), regression modeling, ANOVA, and process capability reporting.
  • Develop process FMEAs to identify critical parameters and define risk mitigation strategies.
  • Define and drive process qualification plans including measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R), and process capability studies.
  • Evaluate and qualify coating materials including conductive inks, dielectric inks, UV-cure coatings, thermally cured coatings, conformal coatings, and functional polymer films.
  • Assess material properties relevant to process performance: viscosity, surface tension, solvent system, cure chemistry, pot life, and shelf life.
  • Define process equipment, fixturing, and tooling requirements for new coating processes and improvements.
  • Drive scale-up from lab/prototype to production, ensuring process robustness, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness at volume.
  • Collaborate with material suppliers and R&D to identify and qualify new coating chemistries that meet performance and manufacturability requirements.
  • Some travel both domestically and internationally may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in process engineering, with demonstrated experience in coating or deposition processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in DOE methodologies and SPC; fluency in Minitab or JMP required.
  • Working knowledge of coating materials: inks (conductive, dielectric, UV-cure), conformal coatings, or functional polymer films.
  • Experience with coating validation testing: adhesion tests (cross-cut, pull-off), thickness measurement, and environmental/reliability testing.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; ability to communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience writing engineering documentation: process FMEAs, control plans, qualification reports, and work instructions.
