The Next Generation Processing Foundational Software team is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer with a strong passion for certification to join our organization. This foundational and platform software group develops the core building blocks required for hardware bring‑up, along with the essential functionality that enables our product application software to be built efficiently and reliably.

We deliver reusablesoftware lifecycle artifacts that support a wide range of end‑user productsand their airworthiness requirements. Next‑generation processing capabilities represent a key technology investment for our future product lines, and this role provides a unique opportunity to influence product strategies, as well as the tools, processes, and methods that drive our ability to deliver new capabilities efficiently and with the highest standards of quality to our customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide subcontractor oversight and coordination in support of software certification activities, including certification document reviews and audit preparation.

  • Coordinate and contribute to software certification deliverables, such as authoring plans, processes, work instructions, SOI submissions, and resolving findings.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the project teamregardingquestions on processes, plans, standards, and policies.

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of teams, including internal and external customers, systems engineers, hardware engineers, software engineers, partner suppliers, safety engineers, and program managers.

  • Manage certification activities, including project management responsibilities such as bidding, estimating, tracking, and reporting on technical scope, cost, and schedule.

  • Proactivelyidentifyand manage risks, opportunities, dependencies, and assumptions associated with certification aspects of the program.

  • Supportadditionalsoftware engineering activities during periods of reduced certification workload; these may include requirements capture, design, development, integration, and verification.

  • Present information effectively to internal and external leaders at various levels andanticipatepotential questions.

  • Mentor team members in software certification practices and champion the development of training materials and knowledge‑transfer opportunities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience oran Advanced Degree in a related field

  • 8+ years of applied experience in the software development lifecycle.

  • 5+ years of applied experience with the DO‑178/DO‑330 commercial certification process.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Familiarity with certificationobjectivesdefined in AC 20‑170/DO‑297.

  • Familiarity with certificationobjectivesdefined in ARP-4754

  • Experience with Collins internal certification processes and the Stages of Involvement (SOI) audit process, or equivalent.

  • Experience with Collins safety, security, and quality policies and procedures, or equivalent.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
