Full Job Description
Principal Workday Analyst

Overview

HRIS & Analytics is looking for a Principal Workday Analyst to own the Workday configuration behind Mimecast's global compensation and benefits programs, translating Total Rewards and HR requirements into scalable system design across 14 countries and currencies. The role sits within the HRIS & Analytics team, which is optimizing a mature, fully deployed Workday environment. You'll own Compensation and Benefits configuration end to end, contribute to Core HCM alongside the broader team, and report to the Director, HR Tech & Analytics. This position is in our Lexington, MA offices and has a hybrid work schedule (minimum 2 days per week).

What You'll Do
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Workday Compensation and Benefits, partnering with Total Rewards, HR Business Partners, and regional HR leads to translate business needs into scalable configuration.
  • Lead the configuration, testing, and deployment of new compensation and benefits functionality, including annual merit, bonus, and open enrollment cycles.
  • Contribute to Core HCM configuration and business process design as part of the wider HRIS team's shared workload.
  • Own end-to-end testing for compensation and benefits changes, including regression testing tied to Workday's biannual releases.
  • Maintain data integrity and security for compensation and benefits domains, including auditing security groups and access to sensitive pay data.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards that support compensation planning, benefits administration, and HR decision-making.
  • Document configuration decisions, business process changes, and standard operating procedures so knowledge is shared across the team.
  • Mentor other members of the HRIS team on compensation and benefits configuration and act as an escalation point for complex issues.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and standardize configuration as the environment matures rather than layering on new complexity.

What You'll Bring
  • Deep Workday experience, including advanced hands-on configuration expertise in Advanced Compensation and Benefits and the autonomy to own complex, end-to-end solutions in a global, multi-country environment.
  • Working knowledge of at least one additional Workday module beyond Compensation and Benefits, such as Core HCM, Absence, Performance, Recruiting, Security, or Advanced Reporting.
  • Experience supporting compensation and benefits programs across multiple countries, with an understanding of how local requirements shape system design.
  • The ability to manage a Workday release cycle end to end, from reviewing release notes and assessing impact through testing and rollout.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, balanced with the ability to explain technical configuration clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • The judgment and discretion required to handle highly sensitive compensation and personal data.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Workday Pro certification in Compensation, Benefits, or Advanced Compensation.
  • Experience with EIB loads, Workday Studio, or Core Connectors for benefits or payroll integrations.
  • Exposure to Workday Extend or advanced custom reporting, including calculated fields and matrix reports.
  • Experience mentoring junior analysts or leading small configuration projects.

The base salary range for this position is $132,000 - 198,000 USD plus benefits. This range represents the minimum and maximum new hire compensation for this role. The position may also be eligible for incentive plans and additional benefits, in accordance with company policy and local regulations. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location with individual compensation also dependent on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills.
