Birmingham Public Schools is seeking a Principal for Birmingham Covington School which serves students in 3rd through 8th grades.
This is a full-time, 11-month position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate selected for this assignment will be the one who offers the best combination of qualities in accordance with the following standards and requirements:
1. The minimum level of education is a master's degree. Training should include areas of school administration, supervision, curriculum and child development.
2. A minimum of five years' administrative experience and substantial experience at the elementary or middle school level in a variety of leadership roles is preferred.
3. Strong background in STEM education, project based learning and design thinking.
4. Evidence of the candidate's ability to provide quality leadership must be demonstrated through:
• excellent communication skills;
• a strong sense of honesty and integrity;
• strong problem solving skills;
• the ability to use a variety of leadership styles including both situation and collaborative;
• skill and sensitivity in working with all members of the school community;
• ability to plan, organize and execute the full range of administrative tasks associated with the operation of the school;
• skill in creating a positive, open, enthusiastic and well-organized teaching and learning environment;
• skill in fostering the continued growth of staff members; and
• a commitment to community education concepts.
5. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Michigan administrative certificate.
