DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer for the team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
The Flight Systems Futures team oversees the design and development, procurement/manufacturing, and integration & test of novel flight systems across a broad spectrum of applications.
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings
Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design and other integration teams.
Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
Conduct electrical analysis and/or develop LRU electrical designs
Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs)/Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and take them through the full review and release process.
Review engineering deliverables such as one-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect connect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies.
May perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.
Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints. Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 6 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 3 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 1 years of relevant experience.
Position can be filled one level higher, 8 years of relevant experience, OR a Masters degree and 6 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 4 years of relevant experience.
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
Must have electrical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, missiles, etc.
Functional block diagram, Visio preferred
Schematic capture, Altium preferred
PSPICE electrical simulation
Electrical requirements development, assisting system engineers
Electrical analysis for compliance with requirements
Electrical interface control document generation
Electrical system architecture design, including grounding, power distribution
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in RF system design and/or Hardware design, communication busses and discrete signaling
Electrical component selection
Electrical subsystem selection
Analog circuit design
Digital circuit design
Circuit analysis and troubleshooting
Operate oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and other basic electronics lab equipment
Circuit board design
Electronic circuit testing and test plan development
Cable design and testing
Engineering for EMI/EMC/ESD compliance, Mil-Std-464
Responsible engineer (RE) for electronics subsystems
Manage 3rd party contractors and vendors

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
