The Configuration and Data Management Department is seeking a highly motivate Principal Specialist, Engineering Services - Software Configuration Management to join the team located in San Diego, CA. This role will support product lifecycle management, performs a wide variety of technical and administrative tasks and is mainly to provide Software Configuration Management (SWCM) program support.
This position requires the candidate to work in a dynamic environment in which evolving program priorities dictate individual task priority. This position is part of a larger CM team and requires regular collaboration with team members. The ideal candidate works independently while supporting team goals and communicating task status. During peak periods, the candidate may be required to work after hours to support team goals.
What You Will Do- Perform tasks according to the program's configuration and data management plan.
- Configuration identification.
- Coordination of Engineering Review Boards (ERBs).
- Administrating software version control repositories.
- Capturing/releasing software builds and documentation.
- Managing software licenses.
- Supporting internal/external audits.
- Processing media requests.
- Review documentation for accuracy according to program procedures.
Qualifications You Must Have- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top-Secret US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- General knowledge and understanding of configuration management and software development concepts.
- A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio).
- Being proactive with the capability of tackling complex challenges and finding solutions.
Qualifications We Prefer- Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance is preferred.
- Detail oriented with the ability to read engineering drawings and knowledge of product structures.
- Familiarity with documentation systems such as Common PDM to manage and control configurations and change history.
- Familiarity with software management tools such as ClearQuest, ClearCase, Subversion, Git, GitHub, Jira and Pipeline Genkins.
- Familiarity with Agile/DevOps software development.
- Understanding of automation scripting concepts.
- Familiarity with operating systems Windows and Linux.
- Familiarity with Perl and Python scripting.
- Has knowledge or ability to learn how to be a scrum master.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment and articulate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbal and written.
- Sense of urgency; ability to meet challenging deadlines and experience meeting short-turn and high-pressure deadlines.
- Attention to detail, ability to multi-task and operate self-guided with some supervision.
- Capability to adapt swiftly to new tools and technologies.

The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
