Ready to lead the technical side of a Salesforce platform in the middle of a real transformation - not just keep the lights on? From consolidating onto Data Cloud to partnering directly with the business on new AI use cases, this is a hands-on lead role where your decisions shape what gets built next.
About the RoleCFA Institute's Salesforce platform is at the center of a major transformation. We're consolidating onto Data Cloud, modernizing our marketing stack, and shaping some of our earliest agentic AI use cases in partnership with sales, marketing, and customer service. As Principal Developer, you'll be a senior, hands-on technical leader - writing code, reviewing it, and mentoring others - while also partnering directly with Product Owners to turn complex business needs into scalable, secure solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Data Cloud.
This is a lead technical contributor role, not a people-management position. You'll report to the Platform Owner, Salesforce, and work closely with the wider Application Development team. This position may be based in eligible jurisdictions in the United States.
What You'll DoDesign, develop, test, and deploy solutions across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, and Data Cloud.
Stay genuinely hands-on: coding, integrations, testing, deployments, and production support.
Lead code reviews and pull requests and mentor other Salesforce developers.
Partner directly with Product Owners across groups like contact center, sales, and marketing - leading technical discovery and discussions, not just taking direction.
Assist in planning wider development strategy and operations, including implementation of modern practices, assessment of platforms and software, helping decide vendor qualifications, etc.
Contribute to platform governance, roadmap planning, release management, and continuous improvement.
Help shape CFA Institute's emerging agentic AI use cases on the Salesforce platform.
Support our move to Data Cloud as the foundation for future Salesforce initiatives.
10+ years of overall IT experience, including 7+ years of hands-on Salesforce development.
Strong expertise in Apex and Lightning Web Components, Flows, Salesforce APIs, SOQL/SOSL, and Salesforce security.
A track record of leading code reviews and mentoring developers.
Real experience partnering with, and leading technical conversations with, Product Owners or business stakeholders - this isn't a role for someone who has only taken direction from others.
Genuine, enterprise-scale cross-functional and cross-geography collaboration experience - not experience limited to small teams.
Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I (required).
Experience with Agile delivery and DevOps practices.
Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II.
Additional Salesforce architecture or Data Cloud certifications.
Be part of a Salesforce platform team in the middle of a genuine transformation - Data Cloud, and early agentic AI initiatives.
Growing scope as the platform and the team grow.
A structured first 30/60/90 days, including direct knowledge transfer from the current tech lead.
Work across multiple business areas - sales, service, marketing, and more - rather than a single narrow product.
This position may be based in eligible jurisdictions in the United States.
At this time, we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role. No agencies, please.
