Principal Risk Associate - Business Continuity Management
As a Commercial Risk Business Continuity Associate you will apply your skills to one of our highest profile Risk Management programs by partnering across the Commercial Bank’s Business, Technology, and Third Party landscapes to support planning and recovery solutions while ensuring compliance with Enterprise Policy requirements and protecting our customers, shareholders, and associates.
You will partner with first line peers and senior leaders in virtually every Commercial Bank line of business, including across both the second and third lines of defense, to drive Program Governance, Oversight, and Compliance. Commercial Business Continuity Risk professionals are experienced, well-rounded, motivated, and intellectually curious individuals that operate within a highly dynamic and collaborative team environment to deliver value-added risk services to our business partners.

Responsibilities
Support cross functional risk management activities, focusing on Business Continuity, Operational Resiliency, and Crisis Management, as well as providing surge support to Commercial’s Third Party Management Team
Identify opportunities to strengthen efficiency and execution of the performance and compliance goals of the Commercial Business Continuity Program
Manage a robust Business Continuity control suite, including providing LOB challenge in Annual Quality Reviews tied to Commercial’s most critical business processes
Provide ongoing Business Continuity Plan administration support to Plan Owners and Managers to help facilitate approvals across Commercial’s entire portfolio of BCPs
Contribute to crisis event reporting to assess potential Bank, Financial, and Third Party impacts, and complete post event After Action Report (AAR) requirements
Leverage project management and execution skills to support Commercial Business Continuity Projects, including tracking, reporting, and presenting to senior leadership
Monitor and report on key risk indicators (KRIs), including providing thematic analysis and timely escalation of threshold breaches to support proactive remediation
Coordinate development, maintenance, and change management of business continuity and crisis policies and procedures
Provide audit and exam management support
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience
At least 1 year of experience in Risk Management, Consulting, Quality Assurance, Project Management, or Process Management
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in Risk Management, Consulting, Quality Assurance, Project Management, or Process Management within the financial services industry
2+ years of experience in Business Continuity or Crisis Management
2+ years of experience with data analytics tools including Excel and Tableau
2+ years of experience with structuring presentations
Experience automating bank processes or controls and implementing AI-enabled solutions
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google applications

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Risk SpecialistRichmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist
Charlotte, NC: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
