Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise Quality Control Inspection Plans for electrical and I&C per design documents and codes.
  • Conduct field inspections in line with established Quality Control Inspection Plans.
  • Document inspection findings and issue Non-Conformance reports as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance through inspection and review of materials and equipment.
  • Supervise quality control engineers and coordinate inspection activities effectively.
  • Support construction management in implementing quality standards and reporting status results.
  • Lead teams to resolve complex quality-related issues by liaising with various departments.

Overview

We are seeking a motivated Principal QC Engineer - Electrical Inspector to contribute to our mission supporting our work at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions in Aiken, SC.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards;
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans;
  • Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non- Conformance reports as required;
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment;
  • Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities; 
  • Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results; 
  • Establish priorities which support construction/operation's needs;
  • Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments; 
  • Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies; 
  • Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities; 
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities; 
  • Review and approve subcontractors' quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures;
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards;
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed;
  • Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks; and
  • Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline with at least 8 years (8-10 years preferred) of practical experience in construction inspection or related areas or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; an associate's degree and at least 10 years (10-12 years preferred) of practical experience; or a high school diploma and at least 12 years (12-16 years preferred) of practical experience would be considered equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications and Location Details

  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
  • Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months
  • Contract Duration – One year base with two renewal year options
  • Location – Onsite in Aiken, SC. Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate’s expense.
  • Work Schedule – Monday to Friday 630 am – 430pm
