Full Job Description
We are excited to announce that we have an opening in our Clarksburg, MD office for a Principal PCB Designer. This role reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and route Rigid, Flex, and Rigid Flex PCB's that consist of analog and digital circuits and components.
  • Modify electronic circuit schematics and lead PCB design/layout activities.
  • Create documentation to manufacture printed wiring assemblies (PCAs).
  • Work with Vendors to design Stackups for HDI designs.
  • Implement Design rules into ECAD tools.
  • Create and maintain Component Library as required.
  • Create new library components as required for new designs.
  • Provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to less experienced PCB Designers.
  • Interface, resolve, and document PCB issues arising from board fabrication.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and team building activities.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with all team members.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a quality and timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively support and communicate to management status, issues, needs and ideas.

  • U.S. Citizenship required. - Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • ASEE or equivalent work experience.
  • 12+ years of electrical PCB Layout design experience including high speed digital communications busses.
  • Firm understanding of IPC standards for the production of Rigid and Rigid-Flex PCBs (IPC-6011, IPC-6012 CLASS 3, IPC-6013 CLASS 3, IPC-2221, IPC-7351, AND IPC-SM-840D CLASS 3).
  • Firm understanding of High-Speed Digital layout techniques (up to 25 GHz).
  • Must have recent Rigid-Flex layout experience.
  • Must have recent DDR3 or DDR4 layout experience.
  • Ability to start and complete complex PC designs per instruction by Electrical and Mechanical designers.
  • Proficiency at designing both RF and digital designs.
  • Expert user of current PCB design software including BOTH Cadence OrCAD PCB Designer and Altium Designer. Siemens Xpedition (Mentor DxDesigner) experience is a plus.
  • CAD library administration including symbol, footprint generation and component parameter administration.
  • Experience with HDI via structures.
  • Familiarity with risk reducing PCB design techniques regarding EMC/EMI to meet military and aerospace standards.
  • Ability to analyze a design to meet technical requirements.
  • Ability to think "out-of-the-box" and develop innovative design concepts.
  • Experience with DoD standards and practices (MIL-STD, ASTM, ANSI, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, such as MSExcel, MSWord, and Visio.
  • Strong communication skills.


The annualized pay range for this role is $109,470- $139,879 along with a target incentive compensation plan (ICP) of 5%. The pay range provided is a good faith estimate representative of the experience level for the role described above. TDSI considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
