Full Job Description
RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: Relocation assistance may be available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Mechanical Engineer based out of Baltimore, MD. What You’ll Get to Do: The candidate for this position will join our Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Engineering Team, within the Test Design Solutions Group, to develop solutions to support environmental, thermal, and vibration testing. Roles & Responsibilities: • Design, build and support equipment cooling, vibration, and system test designs • Cross-collaborate with internal and external customers to gather requirements and provide solutions to meet those requirements • Determine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goals • Communicate technical capabilities and risks associated with solutions to internal and external stakeholders This position is contingent upon the ability to obtain an active U.S Government Secret Clearance or the successful transfer of an active US. Government Secret Clearance prior to start. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience, master’s degree with 3 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree • U.S Citizenship is required. • Ability to obtain/maintain an active US Government Secret Clearance • A current/active clearance is not required to be considered for the position, but a final clearance is required to start • 5 years of experience with writing and maintaining design specifications • 5 years of proficiency with mechanical CAD design tools such as Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or similar • 5 years of experience with test design, maintenance, and repair of cooling and vibration test systems • 3 years of experience interpreting electrical schematics and interconnect diagrams Preferred Qualifications: • Active US Government Secret clearance • Advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering, or related technical fields. • Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) • Experience with designing cooling systems that use refrigerant and/or liquid cooling • Experience with integration of hardware • Experience with MIL-STD-810 (Environmental Test Methods) • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including experience presenting at design reviews and customer/stakeholder briefings • Ability to obtain EPA Section 608 Universal Certification Northrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company. Primary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
