This position will be based out of our Anchorage, AK office with the opportunity for a hybrid schedule from the state of Alaska. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who combines geospatial technical leadership with a strong interest in business development, client management, and staff mentoring.

The Information Management Principal will join Geosyntec's company-wide team of Information Management Action Group (IMAG) practitioners comprised of scientists, engineers, and professionals experienced in managing, analyzing, and visualizing data and other environmental information. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks. Some of the key responsibilities may include:
  • Lead the Data and Mapping group's transition from a practice focused primarily on internal project support in the Northwest Operation to a practice that is integrated with IMAG teams company-wide and also generates and delivers solutions to external clients.
  • Assess the Data and Mapping team's current technical capabilities, project history, and areas of interest, and use those findings to guide staffing and growth decisions.
  • Manage challenging technical and business development efforts while leveraging existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current IMAG practices and capabilities.
  • Manage internal and external client projects to meet project scope, schedule, quality, and budget requirements.
  • Pursue both proactive, longer-cycle business development (18 to 24 months from early positioning to RFP) as well as respond to opportunities in response to RFPs, NOFOs, and private clients sole-source requests.
  • Lead proposal efforts and other business development activities, including development of marketing materials, SOQs, and presentation materials, with marketing department support.
  • Identify and build relationships with points of contact in other Geosyntec practice areas to support interdisciplinary collaboration on proposals and cross-practice sales opportunities.
  • Develop a client portfolio by acquiring new external clients and effectively managing existing client relationships to encourage repeat business, while continuing to support existing internal-client work.
  • Represent Geosyntec at industry conferences and in external partnership organizations, prioritized for business development value.
  • Mentor, guide, and motivate staff assigned to the practice in the areas of project performance, cost and schedule management, client expectations, and career development.
  • Compile team assessment, market research, and cross-practice connections into a marketing plan identifying current best alignments and future growth areas for the practice.
  • Foster trust-based relationships with clients, partner firms, and other stakeholders relevant to the practice.
  • Provide active leadership to foster Geosyntec's firm-wide commitment to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all staff.
