Full Job Description
Job Summary:

The Principal Faculty member will work closely with the Program Director and Associate Director(s) to effectively develop, provide, and manage day-to-day operations within the PA Program. The Principal Faculty member works collaboratively with the Program Director, Director of Didactic Education, Medical Director, and other principal faculty and staff to plan, develop and oversee the educational experience for faculty and students in accordance with the ARC-PA Standards. Principal Faculty will work with the Dean of Graduate Studies, the Program Director, DelVal Administration, and DelVal PA Program faculty and staff to promote and execute the mission and goals of the PA Program and PA department, ensuring a superior education for DelVal students in accordance with ARC-PA Standards.

Reporting to the Founding Director of the Physician Assistant Studies Program, this is a 12-month, full-time faculty position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Program Director, Director of Didactic Education, Medical Director, and other faculty and staff members to oversee the development and implementation of the program's didactic and clinical curriculum in accordance with ARC-PA accreditation standards
  • Assist with development and maintenance of syllabi and instructional objectives for clinical and didactic courses
  • Formulate a remediation plan and participate in remediation of students at risk
  • In conjunction with all Program faculty and staff, assist with identifying and securing SCPE sites in sufficient number to meet the Program's needs
  • Serve as a course director or content area instructor in appropriate areas of didactic curriculum
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and admission of applicants to the program
  • Participate in research and scholarly activities
  • Assist in coordinating, reviewing and revising academic policies and procedures
  • Propose, implement, and evaluate curricular changes and revisions as appropriate based on ongoing, continuous program assessment to ensure program outcomes are achieved and ARC-PA standards are fulfilled
  • Ensure appropriate advising and mentoring of students
  • Assist the program director with continuous program review and evaluation, curriculum revision, evaluation of course syllabi and lesson plans for the didactic and clinical curriculum
  • Participate in program, School, University committees, and attend related functions
  • Maintain clinical competency and knowledge of current best practices within the profession
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education and Experience:
  • Master's level PA with an appropriate Master's degree or higher from an accredited PA Program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Possess a current (or eligible to hold and maintain), valid, unrestricted and unqualified license to practice as a physician assistant
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical experience
  • Experience in educational settings preferred

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Typically standing or walking
  • Potential local travel (within ~90 miles) to prospective or established SCPE locations


Additional Leadership Opportunities:

Based on interest, expertise, and prior experience, eligible candidates may be assigned a program-related leadership responsibility in the Associate Director of Student Achievement and Outcomes role. The individual would be responsible for early identification of students in need of additional support and developing remediation activities and evaluating student and program outcomes to meet ARC-PA standards. Individuals appointed to Associate Director positions must have a minimum of 3 years full-time PA education experience. Associate Director positions are contracted assignments, subject to annual reappointment.
