About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer role within the Chief Development Experience Office (CDXO) to provide enterprise technical leadership for developer platforms and software delivery. The role will establish practical engineering standards, scale reusable automation, improve developer experience, and enable secure, reliable, AI-ready delivery across application and platform teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Architect and build reusable CI/CD components, pipeline templates, self-service workflows, and paved roads for cloud, container, and hybrid environments.
  • Embed security and compliance into delivery workflows through automated testing, policy enforcement, secrets protection, dependency and container scanning, artifact integrity, evidence generation, and traceable exceptions.
  • Modernize manual and fragmented delivery processes using pipeline-as-code, infrastructure-as-code, GitOps, progressive delivery, and automated recovery patterns.
  • Partner with application and platform teams to assess readiness, run pilots, remove systemic constraints, and scale proven solutions across the portfolio.
  • Improve developer experience by reducing repetitive work, shortening onboarding and feedback cycles, and replacing ticket-driven processes with secure self-service.
  • Use engineering metrics and developer feedback to identify bottlenecks, guide investment, and improve adoption, delivery performance, and reliability.
  • Advance InnerSource, reusable engineering assets, documentation, communities of practice, and coaching to improve consistency and team self-sufficiency.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in using AI0assisted development and analysis tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot and approved code0centric agents)
  • Leverage AI to accelerate system design, coding, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting
  • Apply strong technical judgment when validating and integrating AI0assisted outputs into solutions
  • Understand and account for model limitations, security risks, and operational considerations
  • Apply AI responsibly in development and production environments
  • Ensure AI usage aligns with security, compliance, privacy, and ethical standards
