Principal is primarily responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the program's educational, behavioral, and administrative functions. You will supervise instruction and curriculum development; and function as building manager, instructional leader, school climate leader, staff developer, and school/community relations specialist.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, REQUIREMENTS AND PREREQUISITES
- Graduate degree from accredited college or university.
- Eligibility or possession of a Postgraduate Professional License with endorsements in Special Education and/or Administration/Supervision K-12.
- Thorough knowledge of general and special education principles, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Ability to travel to other sites, locations, and field trips with students.
- Ability to complete CPR and First Aid Training.
- Ability to maintain a valid Virginia Driver's License and a driving record with less than 5 demerit points.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM.
- DRIVING SPECIFIC (The following list may or may not be all inclusive at time of posting):
- Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years:
- Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit.
- Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test.
- Manslaughter or negligent homicide.
- Driving after being declared a habitual offender.
- Driving on a suspended or revoked license
- Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order.
- Injuring a person while racing - felony.
- Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more.
- Emergency vehicle violation - death.
- Vehicular assault or willful stopping, impeding, or damaging a vehicle.
- Blocking access to the service facility.
- Attempting to elude police.
- Operating an unsafe vehicle.
- Vulnerable Road User - Death.
- Must not have any of the following violations within the last 3 years:
- Passing a stopped school bus.
- Careless driving.
- Three or more minor moving violations within the last three years.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the school which includes the organization, administration, and supervision of the instructional program within the school.
- Manages human, material, and financial resources to ensure student learning and to comply with legal mandates.
- Plans, implements, supports, and assesses instructional programs that enhance teaching and student achievement of the Standards of Learning and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
- Supervises the alignment, coordination, and delivery of assigned programs and/or curricular areas.
- Interprets all licensure, VAISEF and DOE regulations and mandates; and ensures that all regulations are accurately maintained.
- Holds regular faculty meetings and maintains effective communication with all school personnel.
- Supervises, develops, and evaluates staff subject to agency human resources practices and policies.
- Orients, supports, evaluates, and retains quality instructional and support personnel.
- Provides staff development programs consistent with program evaluation results and school instructional improvement plans.
- Develops, reviews, updates and trains staff on program evaluation results and school instructional improvement plans, organizational information, and changes in regulations.
- Maintains school handbook of policies and procedures, including: the school's standards of student conduct along with matters of interest to parents and students.
- Maintains licensure at the state and/or national level assumes responsibility for professional growth and keeps materials, supplies, and skills up to date.
- Assumes responsibilities outside the classroom as they relate to school and performs other duties as assigned.
