About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic Battery Engineer professional who specializes in designing, developing, and testing batteries for portable medical devices. This role blends expertise in electrochemistry, materials science, and electrical engineering to ensure batteries meet safety, reliability, and performance requirements, while adhering to cost targets / budget.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

On Site Role
  • Design & Development: Research and select battery technologies tailored for handheld medical devices, focusing on energy density, storage, aging, and safety
  • Testing & Analysis: Write test plans and run tests for performance under various conditions. This will include data analysis and technical presentation
  • Documentation: Requires publication of plans and reports in product life management system
  • Integration: Work with product design teams to integrate batteries into handheld medical devices, ensuring optimal fit, function, and user experience
  • Manufacturing Interface: Collaborate with battery manufacturer representatives to ensure compliance with battery requirements, internal quality standards and use case model
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues affecting battery performance, lifespan, and reliability
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with systems, mechanical, and quality engineers


Skills:

  • Strong understanding of electrochemistry and battery materials (electrodes, electrolytes, separators)
  • Proficiency in battery accelerated aging for performance prediction
  • Experience with cell fabrication, testing, and failure analysis
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment and communicate technical concepts to non-specialists

Benefits & Compensation

MiniMed offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$109,000.00 - $185,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $121,000 - $205,000 USD.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
