Job Summary
The Principal Data Scientist is responsible for providing advanced mathematical and statistical methods to solve business problems, providing leadership and strategic direction. This position is focused on building advanced time-series models that forecast trends in medical spend, using techniques like hierarchical Bayesian models and temporal fusion transformers. Responsibilities also include ensuring the scientific rigor and reproducibility of model evaluation, optimizing models for accuracy and interpretability, and communicating core findings to stakeholders from technical ICs to managers to top leadership.
Required Job Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree and 7 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Actuarial credential or Master's degree and 6 years of work experience in a in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Ph.D. and 4 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR 11 years of work experience in an advanced mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field. Leadership and/or management experience.
* Expertise with time series modeling and forecasting methodologies
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and SQL
* Proficiency in at least five of the following six areas, and demonstrated mastery in at least three: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modeling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare.
* A track record of independently delivering or leading the delivery of multiple complex analytics or data science projects.
* A track record of mentoring, managing, or leading junior analytics or data science staff and providing thought leadership.
* ARIMA type models
* Bayesian Time Series Forecasting
* Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC)
* Gradient Boosting (XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost)
Preferred Job Qualifications:
* Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, or bachelor's degree with significant healthcare experience.
• Experience building deep learning forecasting models including:
LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory)
Transformer-based forecasting models
• Experience with GPU training and model optimization.

The compensation offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience. This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to the terms and the conditions of the plan.
Base Pay Range
$121,200.00 - $225,200.00
