Full Job Description
Purpose:

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Civil Designer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in any our Canadian locations: Oakville, Ontario; Markham, Ontario; Calgary, Alberta; Vancouver, British Columbia; Sarnia, Ontario; Edmonton, Alberta.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare civil earthwork design drawings and 3D models based on engineering information, site data and Customer requirements for:
    • Site earthwork planning and development.
    • Site grading and drainage.
    • Access roads and facilities infrastructure.
    • Stormwater management plans including design of retention and detention ponds, lift stations, controlled discharge.
    • Sumps, pipeline corridors, pumphouse and substation pads.
    • Terminal storage facility secondary containment.
    • Underground utilities (culverts, subdrains).
  • Supervise, guide and mentor junior and intermediate designers.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines.
  • Perform site visits for field checks if needed.
  • Coordinate with the Civil/Structural engineering team.
  • Provide technical support to project team.
  • Coordinate with and gather information from other disciplines, with knowledge of the impact of other disciplines design data on civil design.
  • Prepare civil Material Take-Offs.
  • Other responsibilities include preparing as-built drawings, designing and detailing new components from previous designs, implementing the preparation of specifications, design computations, drawings, models and performing volumetric calculations.


What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience:
  • Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD with recent project experience.
  • Extensive EPC/design experience. Industrial civil earthwork design experience desired. Mining project experience is preferred.
  • Successful candidates will be self-starters with an aptitude for problem solving, the ability to work independently or as a member of a team. You must bring strong and effective leadership skills to this role and be capable of managing a team within a major project.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:
  • A diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting or equivalent.


For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $103,261 to $151,854 CAD.
