We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal/ Senior Principal BIT Systems Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD and will require 100% on-site work.
What You’ll get to Do:
As a lead Built-In-Test (BIT) Systems Engineer in support of the MLSS business Unit you will apply strong systems engineering knowledge and understanding across disciplines and work with the various systems, hardware, and software teams.
- Verifying that BIT Mode functions and systems operate effectively, ensuring errors are captured, corrected, or compensated for without impacting sensor performance.
- Derive BIT requirements
- Design of the BIT and Fault Isolation/Detection mode(s)
- Evaluating the effectiveness of modeling and analysis
- Gaining a deep understanding of Sensors Hardware capabilities
- Leading a team to develop and integrate software using C++ and Python
- Define requirements to maintain system performance.
- Verify embedded implementation of the BIT mode.
- Produce publication-quality documentation and supporting Factory Test activities
- Engaging in system integration and test activities, as well as providing field support.
This requestion may be filled as a Principal BIT Systems Engineer or a Senior Principal BIT Systems Engineer
This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance prior to start.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience, master's degree with 3 years of experience or Ph.D. with 1 year of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be
- U.S Citizenship is required
- A current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- Experience with MATLAB for Data Analysis
- Domain experience in sensor simulations for RF sensors
- Experience with integration and test of RADAR, SIGINT, or EW systems
- Experience in reviewing C/C++ code
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, master's degree with 6 years of experience or Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- U.S Citizenship is required
- A current/active U.S. Government Secret Clearance
- Experience with MATLAB for Data Analysis
- Domain experience in sensor simulations for RF sensors
- Experience with integration and test of RADAR, SIGINT, or EW systems
- Experience in reviewing C/C++ code
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degrees in in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $138,500.00 - $203,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
