Principal Associate, Project Manager
We are seeking a Principal Associate, Project Management to join our Consumer & Developer Experience (CDX) team.
This role is focused on designing experiences and helping to lead, facilitate and execute on a variety of initiatives that enable the organization to accelerate how we work across the enterprise to make progress on our biggest consumer and developer priorities.
Supporting an Executive Vice President and their leadership team, you will help architect our Associate Experience & Engagement Engine, applying structured program management discipline to translate associate feedback and routines into a well-managed operational framework, driving cross-functional execution from initial concept through delivery.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong relational, organizational, and communication skills. They will be adept at navigating complex challenges, driving process improvements, and fostering collaboration across teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning & Impact Lifecycle: Orchestrate the end-to-end engagement engine by helping to develop our annual strategic plan and OKR. Support us on our journey from defining key results informed by associate feedback and workforce trends, to building structured initiative workstreams and ensuring a continuous loop of execution and impact evaluation.
Talent & Performance Management Cycles: Program manages the execution of Talent Management (TM) and Performance Management (PM) cycles in close partnership with HR Business Partners (HRBPs), PM Champions, and leaders. Build program workbacks, manage routines, and track execution milestones to ensure seamless cycle delivery.
Associate Lifecycle & Program Governance: Establish detailed program plans, governance routines, and operational documentation for core associate experience programs, including standardized lifecycle workflows.
Integration Associate Experience & Change Management: Serve as a champion for the integration associate experience, delivering focused support to ensure seamless transitions.
Process Architecture & Tooling: Configure central collaboration platforms (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Google Sites, Slack) and maintain team playbooks to standardize workflows, prevent process debt, and maintain operational hygiene.
General Responsibilities:
Lead ad hoc projects and ongoing programs to drive operational efficiency and well-managed delivery in close collaboration with Chiefs of Staff and key enterprise partners
Analyze data and effectively communicate findings to leaders to inform decision making
Assist Chiefs of Staff and leaders with strategic planning, including financial and resource planning, and change management
Develop and support reporting to ensure the team is well-managed
Identify and implement process improvements and drive compliance with best practices
Create and measure success metrics and monitor progress toward goals

4+ years of experience in operations, financial management, project management, program management, process management or a combination
Relevant coursework or experience in finance, accounting, business, economics or mathematics

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Project ManagerNew York, NY: $131,800 - $150,500 for Principal Project Manager
Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Project Manager
Riverwoods, IL: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Project Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
